I decided to join in on a Wellness Challenge this morning. It was spur of the moment, but since I am wanting to clean up my eating, I thought "What the Heck!" (I also thought it would be a great thing to add in with P90X when we start)
Click Here to find out all about what this Wellness Challenge I am doing is all about. Here are the main Rules, and Point System.
Points
1. Drink 48 ounces of water a day
2. 45 minutes of exercise (doesn't have to be consecutive)
3. No soda or alcohol
4. No sweets (desserts, pastries, candy, or sugary snacks) Sugar-free alternatives are okay.
5. No fast food, or unhealthy snacks (chips)
6. Consume 2 servings of fruits and 2 servings of vegetables
7. No eating after 8p.m.
8. Read 15 minutes of spiritual or uplifting text
9. Write in your journal (Daily blogs count, too.) Express specific appreciation, love, or praise in your journal...a goal of two or three items is a good goal!
10. Personal goal- each week make a personal goal for everyday or make a goal for the entire week. ( Like reading more to the kids, organize a closet, get 8 hours of sleep, etc...)
ONE FREE POINT PER AREA, PER WEEK..for example: only one day with sweets a week, only one day without exercise, one late night snack per week........or one whole day free.
I'm actually really excited. Everyone knows I love a good competition, and challenge. This one is going to be hard, but easy all in the same. A lot of the stuff I already do, so that will be ok. I just have one problem with these types of things! I do not like when I can't do whatever I want. I know this will teach me self control and all, but it makes me want to eat a cake even more. Ha Ha. Seriously.
Today at about 4, I saw a cupcake from "Nothing Bundt Cakes" and I thought to myself "You don't want to do this challenge. You can eat whatever you want." Then I thought about a Sprite. And I thought " This summer is going to suck if I do this challenge. I won't be able to go get a Cherry Limeade every day! Boo."
Which is why I am going to do this challenge. I could pass it up, but I would love to be able to teach myself some self control. I know I can do it.
These things in particular are going to be very hard for me though.....
Not eating after 8pm. ( I LOVE to eat snacks while I wind down for the night, or am watching TV. Seth always makes fun of me because I have to be eating something when I watch a movie)
No Soda. I love Sprite.
NO SWEETS. All who know me know this is ULTIMATE torture.( They say that it takes 7 days to get sugar out of your system/taste buds. If I can make it one week, hopefully it will get easier) Thank goodness for one "cheat" day!
Read 15 minutes of Spiritual or Uplifting Text. I'm not sure if this one will be hard for me or not. I find it kind of boring to read spiritual stuff sometimes, so we will see. This is one area I would really like to grow during the next three months.
Here is what I submitted with my photo enrty:
*Hi, I'm Melissa! I am a mother of 3 wonderful children, and a wife to a studly man. I had a baby 4 weeks ago and since I'm already jumping back into the game of fitness and clean eating, I thought this would help me become more successful.
The Wellness Challenge was appealing to me because 1st, I LOVE a challenge and 2nd, I need some serious motivation to clean up the way I eat. As a family, we don't eat terrible, but I have a serious sweet tooth, and also like a soda every now and then.
I would also like to grow spiritually, and taking time to focus on that is important to me.
Here's to the BEST me!
Good Luck to everyone!
So, We'll count this as my journal writing today. Now to go read some spiritual and uplifting words.
