I hate bad days
I was in a bad mood towards Seth today, and while blog surfing, I came across an amazing blog that gave me a reality check on life. Although it was very sad, and heartbreaking to read, I was glad I read it. http://www.adailyscoop.blogspot.com/ It put me back into perspective on the important things in life. As a wife, so many things can be frustrating! I just need to remind myself of the things that matter. Things can happen so quickly and you could lose your loved ones in the blink of an eye. I just needed a reminder of that today I guess.
I hate bad days, but I am thankful for their insight.

Hal's Take: Ok. Admit it. There have been times when you felt like the tail was wagging the dog in your family. Join the ranks. We've all been there. In an effort to create loving environments for our children, we unwittingly have given them far too much power in deciding what that needs to look like. We cover our minivans with their names and honor roll stickers; we overspend each year at Christmas, buying the latest trendy gadgets; we sacrifice our weekends to tote them to tennis tournaments; we revolve our lives around them and then we get upset when they don't appreciate all that we do to make their lives wonderful. Our kids may seem like they want all of these things, but in reality, being "in charge" of the family scares them to death. What kids really need are parents who give them boundaries, choices, and love - no matter what. By taking your rightful place as the leader in your family, you can really have the wonderful home you always wanted - no strings attached.

Hal's Take: No one is perfect. We know this; our kids know this. Then why is it that we wince even at the thought of admitting this to our children? I have a feeling that it's because we somehow think that in doing so, we undermine our own authority. This couldn't be farther from the truth. When your kids bust you on something that you know, in your heart, is accurate, you do a great disservice to both of you by dismissing it. You not only make them doubt their own (accurate) instincts, but you miss an opportunity to grow personally and relationally. Kids see through so many smoke screens and if you let them, they can teach you amazing things about yourself.

Hal's Take: Fortunately, this proverb is often cited as a mandate for good parenting. Unfortunately, those who usually cite it are taking it totally out of context and are therefore, misrepresenting the heart of its message. This is not a passage calling for parents to use corporal punishment; instead, it is one that speaks volumes of truth about the nature of children and the vital role that we play in their development. When the writer of proverbs penned this, the rod of correction he speaks of is the staff of a shepherd in the fields. This rod would guide the sheep away from danger and steer them towards green pastures and clear water. It was not used to beat the sheep into submission. It was used to gently steer them in the right direction.When your kids do the most ridiculous things, remember that being foolish comes naturally to them. It is our job to guide them by showing them what choices they have and what the consequences of those choices are. Think of yourself more like a shepherd and less like a bouncer and your relationship with your kids is bound to improve.

The Secret Life of Bees...
Is such a good book! You should read it! I'm in between 3 books right now and they are all so good! I'm also reading "Putting on the Armour of God" and " Irresistible". They both explain themselves. I just wish I had more time to read!

So this is a cute picture I captured during Preschool last week. Trey was in the older kids Preschool class, and loves our neighbor Easton. Mykelle and Easton are little buddies, and love each other too! I didn't even ask them to pose they just smiled when I got my camera out! They were all playing on the floor and Trey sat down in Easton's lap and Easton hugged him and Trey didn't want to move. It was so cute! Cute huh?

Turkey Hunt
We celebrated Thanksgiving at Dawn's this year! It was delicious! I made up a game for the kids to keep them busy! They went turkey hunting! Trey got a little distracted and decided eating was much more fun! They are so cute!
I am a very thankful person, and I have alot of things that happened this year that I could be thankful for! I'll just say the one thing I'm thankful for that was the center of them all, and that is GOD!

I had a few bad days...
last week, and Seth and I were able to have a date night on Saturday night!(Thanks Doug and Sharie) It was such a good night, and we ate at a place called Bangkok Thai Talay! It was delicious! Seth also sent me the most beautiful flowers last week! Thanks babe, you have amazing eyelashes by the way! Thanks for giving those to the kids!
We also got together with the family on Sunday! It was such a good time! The comfort of being with your own family is such a good feeling! It was also good to see Noomer!
