Happy Thanksgiving

Every year for Preschool, we make these shirts for our Friendship Feast.

Aren't thet cute?? We obviously couldn't keep Swayzee's hands open, so we used her foot. I LOVE her onesie! I dipped feathers in paint, and stamped them on as well.

And, thanks to the "Blizzard" we are not longer traveling for Thanksgiving. Boo.

Tonight, we were watching some home videos, and were looking through pictures of our children. I know I do that often, but I just can't get over how grown up they are! Where has the time gone?

I know I post lots of pictures of Swayzee, but I wanted to post some of Trey and Mykelle that we came across.

My two oldest are getting so BIG! Seth and I always get teary eyed looking through their pictures, and he always tells me he wants to cry when he sees how big they are!

We are so smitten with our children, even when they drive us crazy sometimes.

Candice this was at Emily's baby shower. Look how much Swayzee and Mykelle look alike.

Dave do you remember this? Mykelle loved you so much. You always made her giggle.

My husband looks so sexy in this picture! I loved it when he wore glasses before he got his Lasik. Sometimes I miss his hair. He is such a stud!

Baby Shower Fun

Ok everyone, me and two of my other 'sisters' are getting ready to throw the Baby Shower of a Lifetime.

I need you all, EVERYONE AND ANYONE to share all your fun ideas, treats, favors, games, and decor ideas that you have! We have a few games in mind that will be really fun, and I have been keeping a notebook full of ideas way before Jessica even found out she was pregnant on cute ways to decorate, and all the things we wanted to do. It is always fun to hear other peoples ideas too though. This baby shower has to be amazing... and it will be, because we all know I like to throw a party! Jessica's sisters are so talented too, so imagine the possibilities!

She is having twins, and she is inviting lots of people, so this baby shower can only be one thing, and that is.....

Confession & a Poll

I don't know how I feel about the death penalty.

I have been thinking about that lately, and I've been thinking about what I would want to happen to someone that hurt the most important things in my life. (My family) and I still don't know how I feel. I kind of feel like it should still be up to God.

I do feel like prison/jail should be more torturous then it is. I don't feel like prisoners should be able to do some of the things they do.

What do you think?

Bountiful Baskets

Ciabatta bread, grapes, lettuce, potatoes, bananas, persimmons, celery, pears, oranges, corn on the cob, acorn squash, and apples.

My fresh produe book from the market has come in so handy! It has so much info, and it also describes the flavor of ANY and ALL fruits and veggies.

I'm excited to try THIS brussel sprouts recipe tomorrow.

Sweet Acorn Squash

Ingredients:

1 medium acorn squash, halved and seeded
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Cinnamon to taste

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Turn acorn squash upside down onto a cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven until it begins to soften, approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Remove squash from the oven and turn onto a plate so that the flesh is facing upwards. Place butter and brown sugar and cinnamon into the squash, and place remaining squash over the other piece. Place squash in a baking dish (so the squash wont slide around too much) while baking.

Place squash in the 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven and bake another 30 minutes.

Matters of Business

I have to say, that the "Love and Logic" classes we are taking, are really awesome! They have changed the way I will parent forever. Granted, I have to adapt some of the things to the kind of parenting that makes me happy, but I don't have to adapt much.The kids have reacted so well to all the choices, and the consequences. Overall, I have less anxiety as a parent, and I am so much more calm. I don't make our childrens problems mine, and it is so freeing!

I just read some crazy lady's review online, and she was going off about how Love and Logic doesn't show any love for your children, and how it is so harsh! I had to laugh, because Love and Logic is all about LOVE and EMPATHY.

If you want your children to make their own choices, and to become independent, then these classes will help you.

Sometimes its hard to come up with choices for your kids, and sometimes it is hard to follow through, but the results are amazing, Im already seeing the benefits of them.

I'll keep my reports, we are half way through the classes.

I love having a good book to read! Everyone has been telling me to read "The Hunger Games" and it has been awesome.I'm about half way through this book, and I enjoy it a lot.

I LOVE the fact that I am getting out of my funk. I have been in a funk for a little while, and it feels good to be free from it. I can't label exactly what this 'funk' was. It was one of those things where I wasn't unhappy with my life, but I wasn't my happy self either. I had to live in the moment for awhile, and really figure out what my life needed, or if it needed anything at all.

My funk hit me a little while ago, and was really on and off. I just had a really negative attitude toward some people. I was so sick of giving to people, and not getting anything in return. At least, that is how I felt. Not just one person in particular. Kind of every body minus a handful of people.

yeah, like I said, a funk.

But its leaving me now, so HOORAY.

I'm going back to the gym to make sure I take that time for myself, and I am also going to go back to the Temple each week. I thoroughly enjoy taking care of my family, and doing the best I can at all my church callings, and my job BUT, I realize I need a break too. ( and yes, the gym is a break for me. It's MY time, and I enjoy working out. )
