Hal's Take: Earl Woods, Tiger Woods’ beloved dad, said repeatedly that the parent-child relationship is one built on respect. Most parents readily agree with that sentiment thinking primarily how kids need to respect their parents. But Mr. Woods didn’t mean it that way at all. He believed that it is our job as parents to earn the respect of our kids by how well we recognize them as individuals, as separate persons in their own right. Individuals with not only a mind of their own, but a life of their own. Given the success of his son, as both an athlete and a man, I’d say Earl Woods was on to something.

So so true. I like this one a lot. It's so easy to forget to do this when your an "adult" and a parent. It's amazing how much you get along with your kids when you do this.
It really is! It is hard sometimes, but so worth the resukt you get!
