Dear Diary,
Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me.Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try.I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear.My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.
________________________________
MONDAY:Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek goddess - with blond hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!!Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring!Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit- ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week.
________________________________
TUESDAY:I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then she put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT! It's a whole new life for me.
_______________________________
WEDNESDAY:The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot.Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for that early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I go t on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the stair MONSTER. Why the h** would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other sh** too.
______________________________
THURSDAY:Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late - it took me that long to tie my shoes.Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent another skinny b**** to find me.Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.
_______________________________
FRIDAY:I hate that b**** Belinda more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic little cheerleader. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it.Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the d*** barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?
________________________________
SATURDAY:Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her voice made me want to smash the machine with my planner; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
________________________________
SUNDAY:I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my daughter (the little sh**) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

Water and Protein

I have never really loved to drink water until last year. Actually while studying for Personal Training. I realized I need to drink more water! Now, I love it. By drinking water (Even when you don't love it) Your natural thirst will return, and you will crave water! This is true, and I know because now, I LOVE water.( and ice. I crunch ice regulary. I know, I know. Its really bad for my teeth. But I love it. And No, I don't have low iron. I just like it!) Here are the main facts about water and why it is so important for the functioning of a healthy body!
- Fluid retention is alleviated!
- Liver functions imrove, increasing the percentage of fat used for energy
- Natural thirst returns!
- Appetite decreases significantly
- Metabolic functions improve!
- Nutrients are distributed through the body
- Blood volume is maintained
- Body temp. is regulated
I always drink a full glass of water before I eat. Sometimes your body will feel hungry when really it is thirsty. This helps you eat less and give your body what it really needs!

Beautiful Beings
This was when they were having a sleepover and were so excited, they wouldn't stop hugging each other!
Sometimes Mykelle is so serious when I take pictures of her! I wanted to take pictures of her in this freakin' cute hat, and she wanted to be serious. She is so stunning sometimes that I have to just stare at her and think "Is this really my daughter!?" She is so beautiful. And yes, I am terrified of what is going to happen when she is a teenager. I hope she stays sassy!SCENTSY SALE
The warmer of the month is Symphony, and the scent of the month is Taracco Mint. It smells so fresh! 1.27.2009
Slow-Dancing
We just came in from a cold day in the snow! The kids had a blast outside. 30 minutes is plenty of time in 27 degrees weather. Mykelle, Taylor, and Trey sitting at the table drinking hot cocoa and cutting out hearts to decorate the kitchen with..Listening to Mindy's wedding Cd (which is such a good Country mix BTW) Trey wants me to hold him so I take him to the living room and begin slow dancing with him (Which he loves) Today for some reason, I am flooded with happiness, the kind the makes you tear up. I think as I hold Trey's little hand, how much he has grown up, and that I don't want him to grow up so fast. He has the cutest personality, and always makes everyone laugh! He is so cuddly, so he laid on my shoulder the whole time while I slow danced with him to "Good Morning Beautiful" He danced with me for the whole song while I thought about how today was such a good day although I'm really tired and kind of lazy. He looks up at me when the song is over and gives me that smile that just melts everyones heart. Yep, today is a GREAT day!
He has always had the best smile! I miss when he was this small!

Respect
— John Dryden, English dramatist (1631-1700)
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!
Hal's Take: Earl Woods, Tiger Woods’ beloved dad, said repeatedly that the parent-child relationship is one built on respect. Most parents readily agree with that sentiment thinking primarily how kids need to respect their parents. But Mr. Woods didn’t mean it that way at all. He believed that it is our job as parents to earn the respect of our kids by how well we recognize them as individuals, as separate persons in their own right. Individuals with not only a mind of their own, but a life of their own. Given the success of his son, as both an athlete and a man, I’d say Earl Woods was on to something.

Parenting Quote of the Day

— Bill Cosby, U.S. comedian (1937- )
Hal's Take: Referees have thankless jobs. Think about it: someone is always upset with them. If you find yourself at the center of sibling controversy, parenting can sometimes feel the same way. Be assured, though, there is no need to wear the stripes and blow the whistle. When we step in and try to make sure everyone plays fair and equality prevails, we are usually the losers. Have you ever really listened to yourself when you jump into a heated exchange with your kids? You end up tangled in their twisted, childish logic worse than they do – and you’re supposed to be the adult! Instead, allow them the space to work things out amongst themselves and model calm for them. Ultimately, the skills they’ll develop in doing this are far more important than who got to sit in the front seat yesterday. They’ll learn more about themselves and others in the process and you just might be surprised by their creativity and compassion.

I REALLY NEED TO DO THIS MORE! MY KIDS REALLY CAN WORK THINGS OUT ON THERE OWN MOST OF THE TIME!

Martin Luther King Jr.

The time is always right to do what is right.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
My Favorite part of his speech...
When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
